STACEY, Lily Ethel (b. 2 DEC 1886, d. 1967)

Note: Addresses
1907 44 Charlton Street, Euston Road, Pancras, London
Father William Stedway STACEY - Carman, Mother Marrianne
1911 8 Welesley Road, Kentish Town, St Pancras, London

On Free BMD the spouses for Hector John PRIOR are shown as Maud Emily GARRARD or Alice TURNER
However, on the 1911 census his wife is shown as Lily Ethel, she also signs the form with this name.

No Hector/Lily E marriage between 1901/1911 found on FreeBMD

I have found by looking at the actual BMD that the number of Hector John PRIOR marriage in 1907 is 1B191 not 1B181 as shown. Searching for Lily Ethel STACEY on findmypast showed her with the reference 1B191 the same as Hector.

On the 1911 is would appear she was born about 1887 and there is a baptism that come up in Camden in February 1887 for a Lily Ethel STACEY, the only one and there is only one birth in London for a person of that name. The actual birth was in December of the previous year.

THOMPSON, William (b. BET JAN AND MAR 1852, d. UNKNOWN)
Note: Addresses
1861 Main Street, Bluntisham-cum-Earith, Huntingdonshire
1871 Sutton Road, Haddenham, Cambridgeshire.
Living as a servant to Roper Robert WHITEMAN (36) Farmer of 68 acres born
Watington, Norfolk and his family.
1881 59 Waghorn Street, Camberwell, Surrey
Living with them sister Eliza THOMPSON (17) Domestic Servant born Earith,
Huntingdonshire
1891 9 Nutbrook Street, Camberwell, Surrey with wife Elizabeth

There are children at two year intervals up until Thomas and then a five year gap before
Sydney, so it is thought that the first four children are Phebe's and the second two are
Elizabeth's.
There are six marriages in Camberwell for a William THOMPSON between 1881 and 1891, five
show two men and two women, none of these show an Elizabeth.
The other one comes up with two men and one women, who is not Elizabeth,
so just a chance it is the other woman, but as our Elizabeth came from Bury St Edmunds he
might have married her there.

1901 74 Maxted Road, Camberwell, London
1911 9 Jennings Road, East Dulwich, London (Indexed as THAMPSON)
Boarding with them was Ernest A UPTON (22) single Coachman and Gardener to Solicitor
born Peckham, Surrey
(There were 11 in the house of which one was a Boarder living in 5 rooms)

On the 1911 census William is shown as having had ten children, seven survive and three have died.

Linda FINCH wrote to John TERRY with details of the marriage of William and Phoebe as follows: Have now received marriage cert for William THOMPSON & Pheobe JOWELL. They were married at Emmanuel Church, Camberwell on 22/7/1877. Witnesses were William LARGE & Eliza LARGE. Strangely the boxes for the fathers names and professions are both crossed through with nothing having been written in them. The Residence box just says Emmanuel. I have never had a marriage cert like this before
